I took this shot looking west from Prospect Point
in Vancouver's Stanley Park. The only thing more orange than
a west coast sunset is a real orange. |
| This is looking west down the Kicking Horse Canyon
just outside Golden British Columbia. Railroads tend to run along
the rivers in through mountain ranges and the Kicking Horse River
rises in the highlands of the Kicking Horse Pass. On the other
side of the pass it follows the Bow River into Calgary. |

Back when the CPR used to operate the Canadian
it used to run through Canmore, Alberta on its way to Banff.
I shot this picture of the westbound train on its way through
Canmore at full speed. |

I went through journalism school with Cathy and, on one occasion,
she worked with me as a photo assistant. Since then she's become
a very capable film maker and videographer.
This is a simple double exposure using a Cokin screen divider.

I used a 24 mm wide angle lens to force the perspective
on the anchor chain. The shot was done at the Marine Museum in
Selkirk, Manitoba. |
| Yoho National Park is one of my favourite places
in the world and I love the Yoho Valley. This is on top of Twin
Falls looking down into the valley where there is a small chalet. |

When you're working in agricultural trade journalism
you tend to see a lot of scenes that involve farming. These are
two New Holland combines harvesting a field of canola in The
Pas, Manitoba. |
| This is a reflection shot taken from a glass
building in downtown Winnipeg. You can have a lot of fun with
perspective and this looks like the church is in a greenhouse. |

Mount Sir Donald is close to the summit of Roger's
Pass and this shot was taken on the west side close to a major
avalanche zone. There are huge amounts of snow in this part of
the world so avalanches are common and sometimes devastating.
Roger's Pass on a clear day is spectacular. |
| I was in a canoe on Crowduck Lake in the Whiteshell
Provincial park when this shot was taken. I had a camera with
a telephoto on a small tripod set up in the boat and I was shooting
a loon when this eagle showed up. |
